We were entrusted with developing a new standalone website for The START Center for Cancer Research, a joint venture partner of The START Center. Previously housed within The START Center’s website, the organization sought to establish a distinct digital presence that would enhance the user experience and better reflect its global mission. The goal was to create a modern, easy-to-navigate platform where patients and visitors could access clinical trials via ClinicalTrials.gov, explore inspiring patient stories, learn about START’s global network of research sites, and get to know its world-class Principal Investigators and their scientific contributions. The new site also needed to showcase affiliated events and feature START’s blog, known as the ‘Newsroom,’ to provide timely, informative updates across the research community.
At the time of the project, START lacked a brand style guide or guidelines, and although the goal was to develop these, the timeline didn’t align with their website launch deadline. To address this, we created a streamlined style guide that could be applied across the website, CRMs, email templates, and marketing collateral. The guide established a brand font and color palette, with Inter chosen as the font for its modern, clean, and refreshed look—perfectly aligning with the brand’s desired tone. For the color palette, we retained the original brand colors but strategically incorporated brighter tones to evoke a sense of peace, care, and optimism, softening the gravity of the website’s subject matter.
