The University of Texas at Austin tasked us with updating their course pages to improve functionality and user experience, specifically on the website for the Human Dimensions of Organizations. They also wanted to create a singular, centralized course catalog page that would provide a comprehensive view of all available courses. Additionally, the university required seamless integration between the new course catalog and their custom-made registration platform, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for students to browse and register for courses. Our solution focused on modernizing the course pages while optimizing the backend to support effortless integration with their existing systems.
We developed a unified template for the University of Texas at Austin’s course pages, incorporating conditional rules to tailor the display of elements based on whether the course was a single-day event or a certificate program. This approach ensured that relevant information was shown or hidden according to the type of course. The new course catalog page was designed to dynamically update with every published single-day course and certificate program, providing real-time accuracy. Additionally, we custom-coded functionality to display courses based on specific inputted dates, enhancing the user’s ability to find relevant offerings. To create a seamless user experience, we integrated the university’s custom registration platform with WooCommerce’s SKU feature, streamlining the registration process and ensuring a cohesive interaction between the catalog and registration system.
This project was made possible by MAC’s careful attention to detail and their understanding of how to create a solid user experience on a website. Together, we were able to plan this out in advance, keep our website running smoothly, and then execute the switch pretty seamlessly, which was exactly what we needed. We are thrilled to have a functional catalog and love the layout of the pages they created. Plus, MAC continues to be an easy resource for questions and updates, as needed, which is part of the reason that they have become integral to the way we perform our jobs.
